Mental Health First Aid is a comprehensive course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.

  • You learn by getting involved with the material and relating what you learn to real-life applications. Discussion topics, exercises, and other activities keep you engaged in the course and give you an opportunity to practice helping skills.

  • Mental Health First Aid follows national curriculum and teaching standards, while emphasizing hope for recovery. Classes usually consist of 30 people or less are offered in a respectful, comfortable environment and completed in ~5 hours for hybrid courses and ~8 hours for complete in-person courses.

  • You will learn five steps to helping those developing mental health problems, including psychosis, depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction.
